The pie charts compare the proportion of three purposes, namely industrial use, agricultural use and domestic use, in terms of water is used for in six different regions in the world.
Generally, the main reason that people use water in North American and Europe is for factories while a vast majority of water in the four remaining areas is consumed for agricultural purposes.
It is clear that Central Asia, South East Asia and Africa use most of water for farming with the figures of 88%, 84% and 84%, respectively. In contrast, the numbers for industrial use and domestic purpose in these areas are far less at only around 10%. Regarding South America, the amount of water consumed by domestic use is much more than that of three region mentioned above, recording 19%. As a result, the number for agricultural water use of this continent is only 71%.
Of the two remaining areas, Europe is the biggest continent to use water in factories with the number of 53% while North American only uses 48%. However, the share for agricultural purpose in the North of America is 7% higher than that of Europe.Attachments:
