      The graph below shows the amount of money spent on books in Germany, France, Italy and Austria between 1995 and 2005.

      Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.

      The line chart compares the quantity of expenditure on books in Germany, France, Italy and Austria over the period 1995 to 2005.

      Overall, all lines on the graph have a tendency to increase during the period shown. Also, People in Germany spent more money on books than in those in the other three countries.

      In the year 1995, $80 million was spent on books in Germany. The quantity of expenditure spent on books in Frane and Italy was about $55 million and $50 million respectively, while the figure for Austria was lower, at just $30 million. During the following years, despite fluctuation, the quantity of money spent on books in Germany was continuously higher than in other countries, reaching a peak of $95 million in 2005.

      There was a gradual growth in the expenditure on books in France over the 10-year period, and this finally reached a figure of $75 million in 2005. Spending on books in Austria ended at about $71 million after dramatically rising in the last 4 years. In Italy, expenditure on books witnessed a steady climb during the 10 years, reaching a final figure of just above $60 million in 2005.
