In the year 1980, the percentage of holidaymakers to Festival was the highest, at roughly 30%. Conversely, Pier was the destination which accounted for the lowest proportion of tourists with exactly 10%. The figure for Pavilion was slightly higher in comparison to Art Gallery, at around 24% and 21% respectively.

During the period between 1980 and 2004, the percentage of holidaymakers to Art Gallery decreased significantly after peaking at about 38% in 1985, final reaching the figure of 8% at the end of the period. The figure for Pier overtook Art Gallery in 2005, and this ended at just above 20%. The proportion of visitors to Pavilion hit the highest point of nearly 48% in 1995, but then sharply reduced to reach the final figure of just over 30% in 2010, compared to about 28% of Festival.
