The given graph illustrates the changing cost of fibrous foods, sweet foods, carbonated drinks and the consumer-price index during 32 years commencing 1978.
Overall, it is evident that both kinds food began at the same cost in 1978 and experienced the upward trends over this period.
In detail, the cost of fibrous foods saw a significant increase from over 50 to over 300 during this time. We can see the figures for fibrous foods and other kinds were highly distinct in 20 years later in this period. This is only kind food has the cost more expensive than consumer-price index.
Besides, the period brought a moderate rise to the cost of sweet foods and carbonated drinks, which started at around 70 and ended up at 200 and 150, respectively. Meanwhile, from 1999 to 2009, both data of those kind foods followed similar upward, in contrast the line of sweet foods nearer consumer-price index than drink.
