The line graph compares the number of hours on average which the US companies took to produce a car from 1998 to 2005.
Overall, it is clear that the amount of time spent on the production of a car decreased over the period shown. General Motor reduced the production time by many hours compared with three remaining factories.
In 1998, General Motor took the most number of hours to produce a car, at about 32 hours, while the figure for Ford was 28 hours. In contrast, Honda and Toyota were both able to manufacture a car in only 22 hours. During the following years, there was a fluctuating fell in the figure for all the four manufacturers. For example, in 2001, Ford spent over 30 hours on the production of a car.
There was a slight reduction in the average production time per a car for Honda and Toyota, each company manufactured a car in only 20 hours in 2005. The figures for Ford and General Motor fell considerably which were about 21 hours and 22 hours in 2005, respectively.
