The line graph illustrates the proportion of household who has no , one , two and more cars in Great Britain from 1961 to 2001.
Overall, the percentage of no-car families plummeted over the period shown, whereas there was significant increase in proportion of household with one, two and more cars.
By 1961, nearly 30% household processed two or more cars, tripling the figure for one-car families. Ten years later, the proportion had increased smoothly to 38% and 30% respectively. In 2001, the figure for household had two and more cars soared to 48%, having overtaken of the proportion of one-car families, whose figure moderately raised to 38%.
In terms of household had no car, there was a sudden from 70% in 1961 to 38% in 1971, which was equal to that of one-car household. The percentages continued to go down with the average of 10% each decade with a low point of only 10% in 2001.
