The graph below shows average carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per person in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal between 1967 and 2007.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The graph illustrates the amount of carbon dioxide emitted in metric tonnes by each person in four different countries from 1967 to 2007.
Overall, the UK and Sweden people released less CO2 over the period, while the CO2 emitted in Italy and Portugal showed a gradual increase. In the UK, when compared with other countries’ citizens, people produced the largest amount of CO2 all the time.
The average quantity of CO2 emitted by Italy’s people showed the same upward trend with Portugal’s, this figure from both two countries all started at a low point, with around 1 tonne and 4 tonnes respectively. This figure sharply rose until 1997, with the upper 5 tonnes in Portugal and nearly 8 tonnes in Italy, and was stable in 10 years left.
By contrast, in 1967, about 11 tonnes of CO2 was produced by a UK citizen, and this figure was decreased gradually over 40 years to under 9 tonnes. In Sweden, the quantity of CO2 released per person increased in 10 first years, from approximate 9 tonnes to above 10 tonnes. And then, this amount of CO2 emissions significantly decreased at the end of the period, to just around 5 tonnes.
