The graph below gives information about car ownership in Britain from 1971 to 2007.

The line graph gives a breakdown of the number of cars possessed by British households and how these figures changed from 1971 to 2007.
Overall, a general increase in the percentage of car ownership in England was recorded between 1971 and 2007. While Britain saw an upward trend in the car possession, there is a downward trend in the number of households having no car.
In 1971, nearly half of British households did not use car as their regular mean of transportation. A car was owned by more than 40% of families, compared to around 7% of owners with two cars. Three or more cars were by far the most uncommon ownerships with a very small figure of 2%.
The biggest change came from the figure for families without a car, a drop of approximately 20% in 2007. In contrast, the smallest change belonged to owning one car, which went down slightly by around 2%. The figures for two cars and three or more cars rose to about 26% and 6%, respectively, over the period.
