The pie charts illustrate cultural and educational expenditure from the government in 1995 and 2005. The bar graph represents the number of audiences of different arts events in the same period.
Overall, music held the overwhelming majority while literature occupied the minority in not only government spending but also the number of people involving in arts affairs in both years.
Music was government’s top priority and accounted for nearly a half of their spending in 1995 and there was a slight decrease but it was still their highest expenditure ten years later. Similarly, visual arts saw a moderate decline from 23% to 15% within the reported period. In contrast, the spending on theater rose substantially to 35%, which almost doubled what it was in 1995. Although literature comprised a mere 10% in 1995, 2005 saw a minimal growth in government budget spending for it.
Similar to the expenditure, within the whole period, music was the most attractive event with more than 110,000 participants and literature attracted the least number of visitors with less than 25,000 people. However, there were increases in music, literature and theater, whereas the number of people taking part in visual arts fell slightly to less than 50,000 people in 2005.
