The charts compare the changes in online sales (in percent) of 4 different retail sectors in New Zealand between 2003 and 2013.
Overall, except for Travel and Clothes, the others saw a development in sale from online. The proportion of online sales in Travel, however, was always in the top 2.
As can be seen from the pie charts, in 2003, there was 36% Travel’s revenue coming from online, which was the highest level in all of the four research sectors. The figure went down by 7% in 2013 to 29%, which was still a high proportion. Similar in an 8-percent decrease in money getting from online, clothes retail’s sales dipped from 24% to 16%.
In contrast, both Film/Music and Books’ online sales underwent an increase though the first one grew far more than the latter. More specific, online sales grew 12% in Film/Music from a fifth to a third while the figure was only 3% in the Books from 19% to 22%.
