The pie charts illustrate household expenses in two countries New Zealand and the UK through five catalogs during the 28-year period starting from 1980.
It is clear that the proportion of spending on Food & drink of citizens in both countries was decreasing, while the figure for Utility bills saw a slight rise. In addition, in the UK, the household budgets on Leisure are more in comparison with those of New Zealand.
In 1980, 29% was ranked the highest position of household expenditure on Food & drink in New Zealand, whereas it accounted 23% for the counterpart in the UK, holding the third rank in this year. In the following 28 years, there was a dramatic decrease in spending on Food & drink in the UK, from 23% to 13% and was dropped by 4% in New Zealand, from 29% to 25%. By contrast, the figure for Utility bills was shown a slight rise to 28% from 26% in the UK and to 31% from 27% in New Zealand, respectively.
It is noticeable that Leisure part increased significantly in the UK, leading to the first rank in 2008, at 28%, whereas it saw an inconsiderable decrease the relative figure in New Zealand. Expenses for transport are on the average of 15% in both countries during the period given, while the proportion of Other figure kept the same as both countries in each year, with 9% and 11% in order.
