The pie charts compare the people commuting to university in terms of different categories of means of transport in UK from 2004 to 2009.
Overall, while car was the most popular means to go campus in 2004, bus was opted for the highest proportion of students in 2009.
In terms of car and bus, there was significant changes over the five year period. Over the half of people drove to university (55%) in 2004 and the figure fell by 23% in 2009. Due to the erection of new bus stop in the university in 2004 and car parking in 2006, people would rather have moved by bus than have driven to university. While the former’s figure rocketed to 46% which made this means of transport most widely-used, car was less popular than in 2004, with 28% using.
In 2004, the figure of people rode to the university was only 9% of the total, but it still three – fold higher than those of walkers and train commuters, at 4% and 3% respectively. Five years later, the proportion of bike riders marginally raised to 16%. In addition, UK saw a rise of 2% of pedestrians, compare to 1% of rail passengers.Attachments:
