The table illustrates data on the proportions of students participating in
four different types of Secondary School from 2000 to 2009. Units are
measured in percent.Overall, it is noticeable that the highest number of pupil who engaged in
these schools was recorded for the year of 2000, with the notable exception
of Community Schools. While the figure for Community Schools saw an upward
trend, the others witnessed downward trends during the period shown.As can be seen from the table, the rate of students who attended in Grammar
Schools stood at 24%, which doubled that of Specialist Schools in 2000. 5
years later, while the ratio of pupils of Specialist Schools only slowly
declined of 1%, the portion for Grammar Schools significantly decreased to
19%. The percentage of students who took part in Specialist Schools was one
in ten and 12% for Grammar Schools in the following 4 years, a difference
of 2%.In 2000, 52% of students participating in Voluntary-controlled Schools,
whilist the proportion for Community Schools was slightly lower, at 12%.
However, the number for Community Schools sharply increased to 32% in the
next 5 years, compared to 38% of Voluntary-controlled Schools. Community
Schools were much more preffered than Community Schools by students, at 58%
and 20% in 2009, respectively.Attachments:
