The graph below show relative price changes for fresh fruits and vegetables, sugar and sweets, and carbonated drinks between 1978 and 2009.

In general, the prices for 3 food groups and CPI experienced a steady increase. Although three trends were similar in terms of a general rise, only prices for fresh fruits and vegetables were higher than overall increase in CPI over the period.
From 1979 to 2009, despite of the considerable rise in prices of sugar and sweets and carbonated drinks, both of them were lower than CPI. During 30 years, the carbonated drinks recorded the lower improvement in price, rose approximately three times. The price of sugar and sweets in 2009 (200) is four times than that in 1979 (50). By contrast, the CPI was more than 200 at 2009.
Unlike sugar and sweets and carbonated drinks, fresh fruits and vegetables were higher than CPI. It fluctuated slightly in the 1985s, and the lowest point of this line graph was over 50. After that, the change in price of fresh fruits and vegetables experienced a soar, from 50 to more than 300 in 2009. This number is far from away that of CPI in the same year.Attachments:
