The pie charts illustrate the purposes for which people visited state libraries in Britain in 1991 and 2000.
Overall, it is clear that the reasons why the citizens of the UK used the public libraries experienced many noticeable changes. The majority of visitors used the libraries to borrow and return books in both years.
As is seen from the former pie chart, there were 350 million visits to the public libraries. In particular, the proportion of people visiting state libraries to borrow and return books was very large with 65%, followed by that of people who read newspapers and magazines at 15%. Also, 10% of was the percentage of British went to libraries to obtain the information as well as study.
In 2000, the percentage of people who borrowed and returned books reduced almost a half while only 2% was the proportion of people who visited public libraries study. It’s a sharp drop while British going public libraries to get information increased to 20%. Also, public libraries were used to read newspapers and magazines by 5%. Furthermore, there was a new reason which is borrowing and returning videos with 18% of people did that.Attachments:
