Nowadays many people choose to be self-employed, rather than to work for a company or organization. Why might this be the case? What could be the disadvantages of being self-employed?
While working for a cooperation seems to be everyone’s career goal, there are some people try to be their own boss. There are many reasons behind this trend and it also has some drawbacks.
One of the major reason that leads people to start their own business is their ambition. Those people having ambitious dreams tend to want to fulfill their goals. They might be young graduates with qualified knowledge or people experiencing work for a short period of time. Having seen the market potential and thought they might succeed as other entreprenuers. Another trigger might be their strong characteristic. They are likely to not able to suffer from the stress and harshness from big enterprise’s work environment or simply just do not want to be under anyone, to be told what to do and would rather to play their own rules.
Nevertheless, being self-employed could bring about several difficulties. Running a business is not an easy task. It requires almost 24/7 devotation. To put it another way, those having their own companies would compensate at the cost of other priorities such as family and friends. Moreover, start-up business stands a high risk of failure. Nowadays, we can see thousands of new companies pop up and fail. In this increasingly competitive world, surviving is a hard mission, let alone developing. It takes much more than just passion or ambition to win the game.
In conclusion, although there are many things that trigger the start-up trend, one need to be aware of all consequences it might have.
