Motorways help people travel quickly and cover a long distance, but they also cause problems. What are the problems of motorways and what solutions are there?
Most countries in the world now rely on motorways for transportation because it is cheap, fast and very convenient to travel a long distance. However, there are some negative consequences of this trend; societies can take steps to mitigate these potential problems.
The prime issue is that they can be dangerous. In many nations, the speed limit is very high. This is the reason why are so many serious car accidents happened on motorways. Because of high-speed limit, most of the driver cannot react quickly to what happen suddenly. For instance, a cow or chicken inside the road. Every small thing on the motorway can lead to a car crash, and if even worse, the driver might be killed. This problem can be solved in some ways. Firstly, The general speed limit should be reduced slightly, and it should have more special signs when driver come into the difficult terrace. Secondly, the government should inspect the motorway daily, in case of cattle from countryside may run on the road. Finally, people should have special lesson and skill on how to drive safely on the motorways.
Further pressure is that motorways can be harmful to the environment. Motorways often go through beautiful area and landscape, with the huge amount of vehicle go through daily and release the co2 into the air, this can hurt the plants and wildlife. This problem can be avoided by planting more tree on the two sides of the road and build a fence to protect the plants and wildlife. With the advanced of technology, most of the electric car now are produced and prepared to use in the future; so air pollution will not matter anymore.
In conclusion, motorways are essential and helpful for people. With careful planning and preparation, the problem can be reduced.Attachments:
