Popular events like the football World Cup and other international sporting occasions are essential in easing international tensions and releasing patriotic emotions in a safe way.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion ?
Some people believe that international sporting events like World Cup contribute mainly to reducing international tensions and showing patriotic emotions in a proper way. I totally agree with this statement.
In the first place, World Cup and other occasions which have an international scale are importing in easing tensions appearing in some nations. Athletes who are representative for their countries are always compete fairly with other teams, they do not bring any individual hatred but their sporty spirit. In particular, North Korea and South Korea have different democracy and a bad relationship with each other, however, this does not mean that the athletes of these two countries must resort to use cheat to defeat the competitor. Athletes do not only play fairly but they also help others. For example, in a competition, a runner who was bound to win the prize came back to help another runner – a fainted person – to finish the round.
International sporting events also help many people to show their love to their nations. When a team win, they will sing their national song and some people wild hold their flag run around the stadium to express their patriotic emotions. Not only do the athletes can do this but also the audience. They wear clothes printed their flag and sing their folk song loudly to encourage the athletes’ spirit.
