Many students have to study subjects which they do not like. Some people think this is a complete waste of time. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
It is true that a lot of students are being forced to study subjects in which the do not have any kind of interest. While I accept that this may be time-wasting, I believe that pupils should be equipped with all-sided knowledge.
On the one hand, there are numerous reasons why studying all subjects including those students do not like is a waste of time. Firstly, students can make better use of that time to focus on what they really enjoy and have talents in. If children are able to choose classes to participate in, they will study more effectively and perhaps even do extraordinary work. Secondly, studying all the subjects may be unnecessary. Once students are not fond of studying one subject, it is unlikely that they will choose their majors related to that subject. For instance, a person who wants to become an accountant in the future does not have to study chemistry or physics as it has no contributions to their career.
On the other hand, for different reasons, pupils must study every subject regardless of their interest. One reason is that there are some basic general knowledge that children should be provided. No matter how successful you are, if you do not know the history, the location of your country or the physical and cultural characteristics of other countries, everyone will probably look down on you. Another reason is that students need back-up plans. What if after having focused on one certain subject, students change their minds and want to go on a different route? They will be extremely lost and confused as they only have knowledge on that subject.
In conclusion, it is certainly true that students do not necessarily need to waste their time on subjects they have no interest in, but a broad knowledge is absolutely needed for their future career development.[12/25/2017, 3:27:05 PM] Cám ơn các bạn!
