Scientists predict in the near future cars will be driven by computers, not people. Why? Do you think it is a positive or negative development?
In the foreseeable future, human drivers will be replaced by computers. A lot of controversy have been caused by this issue over whether cars driven by computers is positive or negative.
It is understandable why scientists have this prediction. For the past few years, many prototypes have been developed, and even be tested by using modern technology, cars learn from driving data and can automatically control the route they will go. Maybe in the near future, those automobiles will be released and become popular.
There are many reasons why auto-driving cars will bring benefits to human driver. Firstly, the drivers will be more comfortable, especially if they are in a long journey. Moreover, people will not have to be afraid of being lost when travelling as the cars will have the most accurate GPS system. Secondly, the use of automotive cars can reduce the number of traffic-related deaths. Humans can be affected by a lot of factors like alcohols, being distracted, over speed while driving but computers will not.
For different reasons, cars driven by computers cannot be trusted completely. The first problem can easily be caused if the controlling system has function error. Then human life will be put in danger and car accidents will occur. This is not to mention if someone intentionally hack the system to harm others. The second problem is that technology is not smart enough to deal with unexpected terrains such as potholes or crowded roads. Therefore, in those occasions, human drivers are much better.
In conclusion, it is true that self-driving cars can clearly bring a lot of advantages to humans, but we cannot ignore many negative effects from them. And it is even more important because this is the matter of life and death so auto-driving cars still need to be tested a lot before being released onto the market.Please kindly check!
