In some countries, children are becoming overweight and unhealthy. Some people think that it is the responsibility of governments to solve the problem. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Recent decades have witnessed the prevalence of obesity in the young generation, raising many questions of its impacts on their health. Although some people argue that it is government’s duty to solve this issue, I believe parents and schools are responsible for children’s diets.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why it is the responsibility of government for this unhealthy trend. Nowadays, government has given prior to economic growth and forgotten the duty to ensure the health of its youth. In the long run, this problem will pose a dire threat to the country as children, the future of any countries, will suffer from numerous diseases resulting from unhealthy diets. Additionally, the lack of restricting legislations on TV food advertisements by governments plays an important role in encouraging the consumption of fast foods and bad eating habits among youngsters.
On the other hand, for different reasons, society and individuals hold heavy responsibilities. On factor that contributes to this issue is from Parents’ carelessness. They have to devote their time to working to provide their children with material well-being so they are forced to serve their children fast foods rather than cooking meals at home. Moreover, children are spending more time sitting in front of the computer and TV, and becoming less active than they used to. Another factor is from school education. As children are not equipped with long-term health consciousness, they will definitely choose tasty but unhealthy foods over healthy things like vegetables.
In conclusion, government’s role in solving the problem of overweight and unhealthy children cannot be denied. However, I believe society and its individual play an even more critical role in leading children to follow balanced diets and take up physical exercises.
