Scientists say that in the future humanity will speak the same language. Do you think this is a positive or negative social development?
Answer:
Linguists have recently stated that the human race might proceed to communicate with the others by the same language. Although it would benefit global inhabitants subsequently, it should not become practical due to vital reasons beyond advantage range.
Regarding positive aspects, this change would offer thousands of opportunities for global economic, science and technology. First, the use of one language might facilitates international business and promote merchandises import – export operations. Not only do entrepreneurs confront with less obstacles than before to translate or interpret their sale arrangements but their meetings also would be hold conveniently. As a consequence, it significantly shortens time to gain contracts. Second, this trend could be preferable to narrow down gap in advanced technology, science among nations. Almost materials or literatures with respect to the new cutting edge technology nowadays have been printed or published under English form, therefore, which country being familiar with English could take a grand advantage to approach these resources easily.
Nevertheless, each nation cannot neglect its native language because of intangible values being not countless. Traditional culture would be damaged and eventually disappear away from world’s culture map. Language is regarded as a crucial ingredient involved in shaping a certain culture, so it should be remained as primary language in use to conserve its own culture instead of being replaced by another one. Coexistence of multi languages has made culture of different inhabitants distinguished and diversified throughout the human being history. For example, Viet Nam “TRU” singing which has been recognized by UNESCO as part of world’s intangible cultural heritage is only explored in Viet Nam for a special form of language.
Although scientists supposed that speaking the same language would become true in the future, but this trend could be quite hard to be viable due to some drawbacks. Governments and corporations worldwide should take steps to promote and remain their languages as priceless possession throughout the ages.Attachments:
