Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad.
In recent years, studying aboard has become more and more popular. Many parents are willing to pay lots of fee for their own children without calculation and consideration because they want their children to study aboard and gain more knowledge, even salary in their occupation. It has been a phenomenon nowadays. Many people assume that there will be many advantages when they go studying aboard. However, I would argue that there are some disadvantages that you have to suffer and pass over it if you want to succeed in your own study.
On the one hand, there is no doubt to say that studying aboard will bring advantages to your study career and life. In actual fact, when you study aboard in developed countries such as the USA, the UK, Germany, etc. you can find the knowledge is much more reality and you have to complete your own projects that link to your major or faculty if you want to graduate university or receive a good diploma. Furthermore, in developed countries, there are good teaching devices like computer, projector, laboratory, etc. and professors, so it’s a good environment for you to study with enough kinds of studying materials. Besides, doing a project or survey, even research in university or college not only can help you to enhance your team work skill and soft skills which are very necessary in your life but also review and upgrade your hard one. Moreover, you can access to the brand-new culture, learn more about the modern and convenient lifestyle when you go studying aboard. You may receive a scholarship which means you pay just a little money or you don’t have to pay tuition fee, even get a job in a famous company and gain high salary in the future after graduating if your performance is excellent in your study terms.
On the other hand, I would like to mention that there are many drawbacks when you study aboard. Firstly, I am sure that many students may have some financial problems when studying abroad. Simply because the exchange students have to pay a big amount of money not only for their studies but also for accommodation, bills, food, etc. Therefore, some students stay in a cheap, cramped flat or working for grocery stores and restaurants as a part-time job in order to save or gain money for their daily lives in the foreign countries. In that way, it may distract significantly to their performances also the results at school. Secondly, you must be strange and feel uncomfortable in another country for few years. You are not accustomed to the new culture and lifestyle which is totally different in your nation, such as holidays, celebrations, traditional food etc. that is one of factors which make you feel lonely and sad. That is the reason which makes many exchange students will feel home sick when everything isn’t like their hometown and countries. Finally, the language is the biggest trouble in studying aboard. If learners are not good at language, especially English, they will feel how hard it is in communicating. They will not be able to understand what people are talking about, even can not go to the shop to buy things or ask the way to somewhere if they don’t know how to use the foreign mother tongue.
To put it in a nutshell, I pen down saying that studying in a foreign country brings to you many advantages also the outweighs but it is not the problem. The big problem is how you can overcome these drawbacks and achieve the purpose that you want in study.
