Topic: Do you agree or disagree with the statement that government should invest more money in science education rather than other subjects to develop the country?

The appropriate investment of national budget is always one of the pressing concerns of every country. Recenty, there has been an opinion that science education should receive more governmental investment than other subjects for the sake of a nation’s development. Personally, I do not totally agree with this statement.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that the priority in investing in science education brings about certain merits for a country. First, it paves the way for the innovation of technology, especially in this technological boom time. There is evidence that developing countries such as India or China acquire a reputation for white-collar workers with excellent skills in conputer science, which is also a popular trend of recruitment nowadays. Such investment, to some extent, helps their workforce to possess a major advantage in global labour market. Moreover, it opens up an avenue for those countries to contribute scientific breakthroughs to the world’s wealth of knowledge, thereby boosting their national identity in the global eye.
On the other hand, if a government pours a great amount of money in science education, it will become a double-edged sword. There is every possibility that science-related faculties in universities will attract an excessive number of students to roll in. Such tendency is, more or less, the repercussion of misleading career orientation, resulting in an unbalance in the future workforce and high risk of unemployment. Graduates with bachelor degrees of banking and finance in Vietnam is a standard example for this. In this sense, this strategy of investment is counterproductive, which hampers the prosperity of a country.
In conclusion, the government should divide their national budget balancedly among subjects of education to achieve the optimal development.
