The best way to solve the world’s environmental problems is to increase the price of fuel. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Use your own experience and give an example to support your idea.

Nowadays, an increasing number of people are concerned about environmental issues that impact on their daily life and health. Whether increase in the price of fuel is the best way for environment protection has caused heated debate. My view is that raising the price of fuel such as coal, wood, oil, gas, etc… is not sufficient enough to improve our living environment. There should be a combination of the solutions from government, business organization and individual in promoting environmental – friendly products and green consuming habits.
First, it is obvious that environment pollution is caused not only by growth of population but also by industrial development and long – term human activities. This means that adjusting price of those produced energy materials up will not solve a root of the problem because these are necessary goods that every organization and citizen is demanding more and more in their daily production and consumption. So people continue to use coal, gas or oil which releases high-carbon to the air unless eco-friendly replacements are produced for usage popularly.
Moreover, the cost of production has risen because of increase in fuel prices, and the producers of many products charge consumers a greater price. As a consequent, the inflation increases that make life tougher for consumers around globe, especially in emerging countries like Vietnam where wages are flat and spending is rising at a rapid pace. In this case the gap between rich and poor is widening.
That is not to say that increase in fuel price is not effective in tackling environment problems. Of course, this solution helps to mitigate the number of population in using private vehicles and improving air quality. But the improvement is not significant because of overpopulation and urbanization.
In sum, increase in price of fuel is not the best solution to deal with environment problem. There should be global cooperation to set international standard for environment protection and raise public’s green awareness to encourage low-carbon lifestyle. By doing so can we assure that we could hand this beautiful planet to our next generation.
