It is suggested that everyone should have a car, a television and a fridge.
Do disadvantages of this development for society outweigh advantages?
Advances in technology have long benefit human life across the board. From my perspective, the merits of such advancements outweigh the drawbacks.
On the one hand, there are significant benefits for society to have a private car, a TV and a fridge. First and foremost, the availability of personal vehicles increases people’s mobility who is living in the outskirt of town. For example, employees in remote areas could drive to companies located in urban cities to work on a daily basis. Secondly, having a TV offers viewers a wide range of channels which could entertain them in a cheapest and easiest way. For instance, people can sit at home and watch blockbuster movies broadcasted on such Star Movies or HBO channel without making any ticket payment. Last but not least, with a specific storage method, a fridge can keep food freshness for a long time. This is certainly time-saving for busy people because they do not need to spend a great amount of time shopping for food every day.
On the other hand, there are potential drawbacks of having these electronic products on an environmental and an individual level. The main problem is that air pollution has been increasing sharply due to the widespread use of personal cars. In fact, automotive emission contains a variety of hazardous pollutants, including carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides that are primary contributors to global climate change. Moreover, possession TVs and fridges could result in sedentary lifestyle among adolescents nowadays. It is true that a television could bring them joys without going out and a refrigerator can server them meals effortlessly. These are reasons why people are inclined to stay at home and watch TV from time to time instead of taking up sports or participating in outdoor activities. As a result, this unhealthy habit puts people at health risks including diabetes and heart diseases.
In a nutshell merits of having a private car, a TV and a refrigerator seem to outweigh the drawbacks as such possible effects on the society and individuals.[23:15:54, 13/10/2017] Cám ơn các bạn!
