Topic: Some people believe that it’s good for a country’s culture to import films and TV programs while the others think it is better for a country to have their own films and TV programs
In terms of cultural respect, some people argue that purchasing foreign films bring more benefits while the opponents of this view claim on prioritizing internal movies and TV programs. Although it is necessary to engage viewers to local TV shows, I believe that importing foreign ones has more advantages.
On the one hand, movies play an important part in a multi-cultural world. Films made by local producers are ways to preserve a country’s tradition as movies they contain cultural value of a nation. For example, movies related to historical issues will remind later generation of their ancestor’s life. Thanks to this, young people can be able to improve knowledge of their roots and develop a sense of the surrounding community. If it had not been for internal TV programs, conventional value of a country would be diminished in today’s world.
On the other hand, there are many reasons why different kind of TV shows should be brought to local viewers. At first, prior to films and TV programs imported from other nations, the inhabitants have more opportunities to expose to a new culture. This is helpful in widening one’s knowledge and increase cultural tolerance. Secondly, it is viewers who are benefit from high quality movies and greater selections for what they want to watch. External as well as internal shows are likely to compete to attract more viewers.
In conclusion, I believe that it is equal for foreign films to be shown and viewers can receive better options to satisfy their needs.
