Leaders and directors in organizations are often older people. Some people say that younger people could be leaders. Do you agree or disagree?
While some people think that the elderly should take over the role of leading an institution or enterprise, others believe that managers’ jobs could be handled by young staff. I definitely agree that not only older people can be leaders but younger members should also take up leadership positions.
Firstly, young people are often more passionate to assimilate knowledge and skills than the older ones. As a result, talented junior staff can rapidly close the gap within seniors in the company. Therefore, they should be given equal opportunities to step up in an organization. In addition, the adaptability of youngers to the external environment should outperform the older people who are behind the times so they can achieve more success than the older ones. For example, a younger sales person can lead a team to exceed sales target by using social media and electronic marketing while typical tradition sales leader who relies on tradition sales cannot deliver his performance. In this case, younger staff should be awarded and promoted to lead the sales team in a more appropriated way.
Secondly, in recent years, students have had a better chance to receive more advanced and comprehensive education than their previous generations so that they carry a solid background to be high-fliers in their career path. Thus, they will undeniably have a good grasp of academic expertise as well as market intelligence to lead an organization properly. Over the last decade, the world has experienced expeditious change across all major aspects such as economics, technology or industries. The method of running a business or a company differs from prior approach and the essential criteria for leadership also varies accordingly. For instant, more and more startups which require passion and talent of young leadership have been a new style over the development of the economy so far.
In conclusion, I once again reaffirm that young staff should be chosen for leading roles in firms or organizations if these tasks are within their capabilities.
