News media is more influential nowadays and some people think it is a negative development. to what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is irrefutable that with the advancement of technology, the human being is more affected by news media than it used to be. I would argue it is a negative development due to several reasons although few mortals dissent with it.
On the one hand, it is justifiable why some people hold an opinion that increasing influence of news media to people is a positive trend. Firstly, obsolete and inappropriate knowledge would be replaced by several useful up to date knowledge derived from news media. As the result, individuals become more conscious and erudite when they have to face problematic issues. Moreover, news from social networks is not only informative but also very relaxing so that people could avoid some diseases related to stress. For example, you could express your feeling by a status or see some funny clips on facebook to release your mind.
On the other hand, I would advocate that news media could affect humans negatively. Initially, in terms of youngsters, they could be influenced in a negative way by numerous violent video displayed on some social networks due to the lack of censoring and controlling of the government. To take an example, in Vietnam, you can find that there are a lot of fighting game video on youtube channels. Furthermore, individuals have a tendency to depend excessively on the information on the Internet, they apply the direction on the Internet without any consideration and indiscrimination. To be precise, people would buy medicine followed the direction on the Internet instead of asking advice of doctor though this could harm adversely to their health.
In conclusion, I believe despite some positive influences created by news media, we can not underestimate its drawbacks.
