Topic: Nowadays children spend a lots of time watching TV and playing computer games. However, it does not help in improving children’s mental abilities. Do you agree or disagree?
Some individuals have confronted different thoughts with regard to the question whether enjoying spare time in front of the TV or computer exerts a profoundly influential to children’s thinking abilities. To the best of my knowledge, I completely disagree with this option.
In the one hand, sedentary lifestyle discourages the development creativity and critical thinking skills of children. In fact, it is common that few areas of the brain are enabled if children form their passive habits through activities which do not move much such as watching TV or playing games. A good case in this point is that a recent study suggests that children who involving physical activities such as football, swimming and creative pursuits like singing or painting are smarter than those who sit in front of their TV. Moreover, spending a lot of time for TV or games are the main reasons for causing several health problems like obesity or diabetes as well as forming inadequate manners through violent online games. However, if parents have a sufficient guideline on the contents or proper time management, programs for children on the TV can promote the growth of children’s brain.
In the other hand, a fertile imagination and mental abilities can be encouraged through suitable programs for children. To be more specific, children can learn and imitate to the instructor to implement handmade toys through TV channel teaching handicrafts, subsequent, a new toy can be invented by themselves. To give a clear example, HTV3 is one of the most interesting channel for children with adequate content for child’s mental development. In addition, discovering and groping for answers to intellectual game are also contribute of enhancement of the brainy faculties.
In conclusion, sitting for hours staring at a computer screen can influence to the thinking process of the brain. However, parent can impose censorship on the appropriate content and time to help in improving their mental.
