It is highly controversial recently that more and more family are sending their elders to nursing house instead of taking care of them at home. In my opinion, I believe that home and family’s care is the most convenient place for the old, which is explained by a variety of reasons in this essay.
Perhaps the greatest bonus that nursing house offers is its flexibility. This can be seen in 2 ways of how they take care of elders. Firstly, nurses who shoulder the responsibility of having the old adults in their best condition are usually well- qualified in their line of work. That is to say, nurses are required to have the bachelor degree in their field and having trained to have an understanding about the old, which ensures that they will give their patients the best supports. Another area of flexibility is that nursing houses are equipped with modern technology that can be ready in any emergency. For example, a heart attack situation can quickly be solved thanks to well- trained nurses and the aid of top-notch machines.
However, people should also consider that having our parents and grandparents sent away from home is such an unnecessary way to treat the elder, let alone it cannot be accepted in some part of the world such as Asia where superiors are highly respected. The first point to make is that old adults are prone to illness mainly because of mentally sickness which is caused when they are far from families. For instance, according to some reliable newspapers such as The New York Times, adults who are taken care of by family members in their house have less illness and higher life expectancy then those in nurse houses. The other point is about the responsibility of children and other family’s members. Sending old adults to nurse houses shows that younger adults lack responsibility and awareness, which should be discouraged not only in Asia but worldwide.
In conclusion, I do accept that nursing house have offered some benefits in terms of flexibility. However, taking care of the elders at home is more encouraged because of some issues related to the old’s health and morality.
