Many museums and historical sites are mainly visited by tourists but not local people. Why is this the case and what can be done to attract more local people to visit these places?
My essay:
There is a massive number of tourists be attracted to museums and historical locations. However, local people tend to be unaware of attending to those places. Some explanations will be put forward before solution can be drawn to tackle this problem.
There are several reasons as to why tourists, instead of local people, come to museums and historical places. Firstly, visitors come to these locations to have a comprehensive cultural overview, while local citizens are familiar with the traditional values of the region. As a result, those destinations are more appealing to newcomers rather than the locals. Moreover, because of the layout of historical sites remain unchanged through passing years, the locals might not recognise the visual beauty of these sites, where they have been to at least once in their childhood.
However, in order to resurrect the interest of local people in coming to museums, a number of measures can be conducted. What can be done first is educating the children about history through organising some visits to the museums, therefore, they can better learn by practice. For example, they can gain knowledge about ancient languages by observing artifacts such as Rosseta Stone. In addition, the authorities also can lower the admission fees or offer discounts to local inhabitants to drum up more interest.
In conclusion, many reasons can be given as to why local people lose their enthusiasm for museums and historical places. However, actions can be taken to review these places.Attachments:
