( ĐỀ BC NGÀY 5/1/2013 ) Some people believe that people who read books can develop more imagination and language skills than those who prefer to watch TV. To what extent do you agree or disagree.?
      ————————————————————————————-
It is argued that readers produce more inventiveness and linguistic skills than those who are inclined to watch television. I partly agree with this point of view for several reasons.

On the one hand, It is widely believed that reading books would facilitate imagination and language abilities. It is undeniable that reading has significant impacts on arousing inventiveness. This is because readers tend to visualize the events that are happening in the book and put themselves in the position of fictional characters in order to comprehend the story content. Additionally, reading paves the way for people to be exposed to written language that enhances their spelling, grammar and vocabulary. By reading academic books, for instance, I not only practice my spelling skills but also learn a multitude of formal collocations that I can use in my IELTS essay.

On the other hand, I believe that watching TV is considered an essential habit as reading because of its positive impacts on creativeness and linguistic competence. Firstly, by following a film series, watchers would anticipate the next episode after watching the previous one, which indirectly expands their creativeness. Secondly, the broadcasting of quiz shows plays an essential role in developing the viewer’s creative thinking because their imagination could be motivated when analyzing and answering quizzes. Finally, the role of TV in boosting linguistic competence is pivotal. English programs, to illustrate, not only support audiences to remember new words by showing relevant images but also increase their listening skill through conversations.

In conclusion, I consider that both reading books and watching television are beneficial in developing our creativeness and linguistic abilities, but how they affect us might be different.

Your writing is good and can be improved in terms of lexical resources.
