Space travel has been possible for some time and space tourism will probably be developed in future. Do you think space tourism is a negative or positive development?
There have been several successful voyages of the human-beings into the universe and people may think of making space travel commercially viable. While there are some arguments that developing space tourism is negative, I still believe that this idea has its own positive aspects.
On the one hand, space travel contains countless dangerous risks which might not be accepted by majority of people. For example, astronauts must suffer from extreme conditions such as zero gravity, sudden change in temperature, lack of food and beverage, connection lost with the space station. Not every space shuttle could return to the earth and travelers are facing high probability of disappearing forever. In addition, developing space travel may cost mankind tremendous amounts of money without success guarantee. It could be a waste of time and resources to do space research because universe study is beyond the control of human beings. As a result, there is a high chance of failure to make the cosmos become a popular traveling destination.
On the other hand, it seems to me that developing space travel has some positive aspects which need to be considered. Firstly, the success of such development would bring mankind to a higher step of revolution. NASA has poured enormous amounts of money into space research. Their success in putting satellites into the orbit, launching space rockets or increasing space shuttles to discover the universe is the evidence of mankind power and has made the reality of space travel closer. Secondly, researchers have proved that the horizon of the earth and the solar system is limited. Therefore, the quest for a new homeland outside the earth is essential. As a result, development of space travel plays an integral part in bringing human beings to other planets in the universe.
In conclusion, despite the negative impacts of developing space tourism, I believe that such development is positive and crucial to mankind.
