Governments should spend money on railways rather than roads.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
In the modern era, movement infrastructures play an integral role to every citizen. Thus, there is a controversy whether the authorities should focus on developing railways or roads. In my opinion, I support both views as each has its own benefits.
To begin with, railways would be a vigorous solution to the improvement of a country. First of all, spending on railways rather than roads might guarantee to the environment enhancement. It is obvious that when people switch from utilization of private transports to public one, it would help mitigate the amount of CO2 emission as well as traffic congestion. As a result, the air and atmosphere of hustle cities would be more clean for residents, for instance, Japan is renowned for many modern railway stations, therefore, they are never suffered from detrimental air pollution. Secondly, using public transport is an excellent and economical way for most inhabitants, especially students and pupils. In many developing and undeveloped nations, there are a hundred of people could not afford a good private vehicle, not including the payment for fuel needed. Therefore, using railways would be a reasonable choice.
However, there are several prominent reasons why road investments are worth besides railways. The most important is that railways are not always safe since there would be some dangerous criminals. In fact, Japanese underground trains usually appear pick-pockets or sexual harassment, which are threats against many people, especially girls and elderly ones. Moreover, evolvement of road infrastructure contributes to many aspects of economic development and growth. For example, it is tourism industry contribution that travelling by bus is still a nightmare for people suffering from carsick and fatigue unless competent authorities build more expressways. In addition, the farm production from countryside would be delivered more easily and quickly to the cities.
