Some universities now offer their courses on the Internet so that people can study online. Is this a positive or negative development ?
It is true that studying online is one of the most popular method in our university education nowadays . While there are several disadvantages of educational online system, I would argue that some benefit come to us.
To begin with, I accept that online university courses still have some issue. Firstly, it is difficult that students would have a good grasp of new knowledge quickly because they might not have the opportunity to be interative learning with their teachers. Secondly, the distraction and undiscipline still exist in some group of student; therefore, learners could not focus on a direct topic that teachers teach. For example, they could not only study some materials online but also chat with close friends or use social media. Finally, if students want to cheat on their exams or do something unfair, the quality of education in unversity is able to fall.
Despite the negatives mentioned above, I believe that online courses are a positive development in our societies for the following justifications. Academic institutions could reduce the cost to educate their students. Instead of paying money to experts to organize a class with limited individuals, they could produce and provide video online to teach all of students in school. In addition, the online system would help students to have a flexible timetable, especially those who work their way through university.As a consequence, they are able to study for a degree by distance learning, and also guarantee that their work operates effectively.
In conclusion, although online learning has some drawbacks, I believe this development is a postive method in education.
