Some people regard video games as harmless fun, or even as a useful educational tool. Others, however, believe that videos games are having an adverse effect on the people who play them. In your opinion, do the drawbacks of video games outweigh the benefits?
It is often argued that console games are unlikely to cause damage or harm to users or even can be considered as means of education, whereas others think that video games pose threats to gammers. In my opinion, they are more likely to have a harmful impact.
On the one hand, video games are thought to be entertaining and educational. In a world where stress and depression are becoming increasingly common elements on a daily basis, video games have been proven to dramatically reduce anxiety and pressure at work. For this reason, many people think that video games could be just an entertainment tool like sport and other hobbies, and therefore do no harm to human being. From an educational perspective, console games are truly effective in keeping children engaged in technology learning at their early age. For example, Angry birds – the widely popular game is now teaching young gamers about basic coding principles.
On the other hand, I would argue that these benefits are outweighed by the drawbacks. The highly addictive games have led children and young adults to spend an excessive amount of time gaming to achieve higher scores in virtual worlds or compete with their peers. Personal physical health can be seriously impacted from poor gaming habits as users tend to be inactive and neglect healthy activities such as exercises, eating healthy and proper food. In fact, the rise in obesity rate in recent years has also linked in part to such sedentary lifestyle that often accompany gaming addiction. At this point, I strongly believe that the view that playing video games are a harmless hobby is oversimplified and certain educational benefits can not compensate for health loss.
In conclusion, it seems to me that the potential dangers of video games are more significant than the possible benefits.Attachments:
