Some people say that what children watch influences their behavior, others believe the amount of time they spend on TV influences their behavior most. Discuss both views and give your opinion?
It is undeniable that television has a great impact on how a child behaves. However, what its driving force is, whether the content of a program or the duration a child exposes to it, still receives different views.
First of all, it seems to be obvious that what the program is about affects children’s behavior considerably. The reason is that kids tend to imitate the character on television programs. For instance, consider the results from a group spending time on violent films and one watching fairy tales channels. The first one, as easily predicted, appear to be easier to lose temper and solve an issue by violence while the latter group are much gentler and calmer. This roots from the fact that TV program are their little world and they live in it, so, they learn from it. As a result, what are there in a program, what problem the producers bring on it and how the characters deal with their issue play an integral part of building a child’s personalities.
On the other hand, how much time a child spends on televisions has a significant role in defining a child’s behaviour. The most concern from watching TV too much makes a child more passive than other. Apparently, the more time on sticks their eyes to TV, the fewer opportunities they contact to people, which leads to the fewer chances they have to experience the surroundings. They, consequently, hesitate to make a conversation or even play with a strange child.
To sum up, either a content of a TV program or duration a child watches TV plays key roles to define a child now and then.
