Electricity Generation by Source in Germany

The charts compare the number of the electricity units generated by five different sources including coal, petroleum, natural gas, nuclear and hydro in New Zealand and Germany in two studied years, 1980 and 2010.
Overall, there was a significant change in the electricity units over the researched course of time. The total of the electricity units of these five sources, produced in both countries in 2010 was nearly twice times as high as that in 1980. In 2010, almost electricity was produced by coal in New Zealand and nuclear energy in Germany.
In 1980, the total electricity production was slight higher in New Zealand than in Germany, at 127 units and 107units, respectively. These figures rose to 200 units in New Zealand and 214 units in Germany in 2010.
To be more specific, in 1980, coal was the major power generation source in New Zealand. It represented 56 units, which was exactly twice the figure for German. The second primary energy sources in New Zealand were natural gas and hydro, at the same 30 units. These figures in German were 28 units and only 7 units, respectively. Petroleum provided 11 units in New Zealand, which was a half of the figure for German.
There were two main sources to create electricity in New Zealand in 2010, coal [150 units] and hydro [46units]. The remainder sources were negligible, at 2 units. In contrast, nuclear power was used to generate 155 units in German. While the figure for natural gas fell significantly by 26 units, coal [28 units] and petroleum [27 units] remained.
