The given bar chart compares the number of minutes which men and women in Great Britain spend every day on their housework.
Overall, it is clear that women spend more time on the chores than men. Although men spend more time on gardening/petcare and maintenance/odd jobs, they are less responsible for other household tasks.
To be more detailed, females spend the most time on cooking/baking/washing up, at 74 minutes per day, compared with 30 minutes for males. An average of 58 minutes a day women use for cleaning/house tidying and this figure is four times as high as that for men. There is also a significant difference regarding to care of own children and washing/ironing clothes. While women spend on 45 and 25 minutes respectively on these activities, men spend 20 and only 2 minutes on each of these.
In contrast, men usually take care of some hard tasks such as gardening/petcare and maintenance odd jobs. They do gardening/petcare about 50 minutes per day, compared with 21 minutes for females. The figure for maintenance odd jobs is 26 minutes which is nearly three times as many as that for women, at 9.5 minutes.Attachments:
