The bar chart below shows the proportions of English men and women of different ages who were living alone in 2011. The pie chart compares the numbers of bedrooms in these one-person households.
The bar chart compares the percentages of British people living alone in terms of age distribution by gender in the year 2011, while the pie chart gives information about how many bedrooms these one-households had in the same year.
It is clear that women aged 65 and over more likely to live by themselves than men in England. At the same year, it is also noticeable that the majority of one-households live in a 2-bedroom residence.
As can be seen from the bar chart, there were more men who lived alone than women in age groups under 65. Almost 65% men aged 35 to 49 lived by themselves, but this proportion decrease in age groups lower. From 65 onwards, the figure for women who lived alone was increasing, about 63% in 65-74 year old bracket and 76% in aged 85 and over.
The pie chart shows, the percentage of one-person households having a 2-bedroom residence was about 35%. The proportions of people living alone in 1-bedroom and 3-bedroom were similar, 28% and 29.8%, respectively. Only 1.4% people living in the house that had more than 5 bedrooms.Attachments:
