The diagrams illustrate the growth of the village called Stokeford between 1930 and 2010.
Overall, there were significant changes in the village over a period of 80 years. While more houses were added, the lands for agricultural purposes vanished.
Looking at the maps in more detail, we can see that in 1930, there were a few houses on both sides of the road crossing the Stoke river. By 2010, two farmland areas in the south-west and north-east of the village were replaced by the residential areas. Over the researched period, many streets were built to access to new buildings. In addition, the local shops had disappeared, only the post office remained.
The local primary school opposite the post office was extended to the east with two added blocks. The location of the garden in 1930 was redeveloped into many houses and the large house within this ground was enlarged to become a retirement home.Health and sport
