The charts below give information about travel to and from the UK and about the most popular countries for UK residents to visit.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.The charts at hand indicate data on visits to and from UK from 1979 to 1999, and the most common nations for UK locals to travel in 1999.
As can as be clearly seen from the charts, the most striking feature is that the number of travelers by both UK inhabitants and overseas residents had an upward trend over period of 20 years.
As is shown, there was a slight increase in visits abroad by UK locals at about 20 million in 1985 from a starting point of over 10 million in 1979. This figure went up sharply to more 50 million people during the last period. Similarly, The UK witnessed a gradual rise in foreigner traveling to the UK with approximate 10 million people in 1979, reaching a peak of below 30 million in 1999.
As regards countries visited by UK residents, France was the most attractive destination to UK locals at over 10 million people in 1999, followed by Spain with about 9 million of UK visitors. Statistics for USA, Greece, and Turkey was less striking with under 5 million in the year surveyed.Attachments:
