The pie charts below show the average household expenditures in Japan and Malaysia in the year 2010.

The charts illustrate a comparison of the household expenses in an average in Japan and Malaysia in terms of five different categories in 2010.
Overall, it is clear that spending on housing, food and other goods and services accounted for the highest proportions of the expenditures in both countries. However, people in Japan spent the percentages of their budget on health care and transport twice times as high as those in Malaysia in the studied year.
To be more detailed, Malaysian householders paid out the highest rate of their income for housing, at an average of 34%, this spending in Japan was 21%. Whereas, the highest figure for the expense in Japan was other goods and services, at 29%. This was slightly more than in Malaysia, at 34 %. Another large expense which people in both countries had to pay was foods. The figures were similar, at 24% and 27% for Japan and Malaysia, respectively.
While 20% of total expenditure went on transport in Japan, the figure for Malaysia was a half, at exactly 10%. The percentages spent by Japanese and Malaysians on health care , 6% and 3% respectively, were the lowest figures shown on the charts.
