The charts compare the proportion of the sales for four online retail sectors in Canada in 2005 and 2010.
Overall, the rate of the internet sales for these retail categories changed over two selected years. While the sales of video games and food and beverage increased significantly, the figures for the electronics and appliance and home furnishings retail sectors went in the opposite direction.
In 2005, the percentage of the online sales for food and beverage was 22%, but this rose to 32% in 2010 which was the highest sales of the total sales of four studied sectors. Likewise, the proportion of the sales for video games went up by 5% in 2010, at exactly 23%.
In contrast, the most dramatic fall in the proportion of the sales was home and furnishings, from 25% in 2005 to 15% in 2010. There was also a slight decrease in the online sales of the electronics and appliance sector, which was 35% in 2005 compared with 30% in 2010.Attachments:
