The given table provides data about the proportions of consumer expenditure in three categories of products and services in Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey in the year 2002.
Overall, it is clear that people of these countries spent the highest percentage on food, drinks and Tobacco and the lowest rate on leisure and education.
Turkey headed the table for spending on food, drink and tobacco. The figure was 32.14 % which was nearly twice times as high as that for Italy, at 16.36%. While Irish and Spanish people spent on this item at around 29% and 19%, respectively, Sweden saw the lowest expenditure, at 15.77%. Regarding clothing and footwear, of the five represented countries, Italians spent the largest proportion, at exactly 9%. People of four remainder countries spent the percentage of their budget between 5.5% and 6.63%.
It can be seen that Turkey also had the highest rate of expenditure on Leisure and education, which was 4.35%. Italy and Spain saw the similar percentage, at around 3.2%. Spanish spender paid out the lowest rate for this category, at only 1.98% which was less than 0.19% compared with the figure for Ireland.Attachments:
