The graphs below show where people first got their news, both about the world and about local events, between 1987 and 1997.
The line charts illustrate three different types of media which people acquired world news and regional news from 1987 to 1997 in the UK.
Overall, the most popular type of media that people in UK tended to get global news was television whereas newspapers wasc the most favorite option of the British to read local news in the period shown.
The numbers of television which UK inhabitants used to know world news were highest on the charts and fluctuated between 65% and 67% during this period, except for a slight drop to about 60% in 1989. However, these figures for television just stayed the second option of UK people who chose to experience area news, with a fluctuation and an increase from 19% to 37%.
In the same period, there was a fluctuation and a decline in the number of newspaper where UK residents gained local news from 56% to 40% while this figure for global news was just from 25% to 20%. In comparison, the numbers of radio used for getting world news and local news were lowest and fluctuated around 0% and 1% respectively.Attachments:
