Nowadays, young people spend too much of their free time in shopping malls. Some people fear that this may have negative effects on young people and the society they live in. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
In developing societies, it comes to the knowledge of some people that young adolescents are shopaholics, which exerts an disadvantageous effect on individuals in terms of personality and social behavior. While I tend towards this point of view, I believe that shopping is simply a form of entertainment with its own obvious merits for young adults to have a laid-back attitude.
On the one hand, there are various compelling reasons why heading to the shop has its unique drawbacks.Firstly, in busy lives in which people live in, retail outletsare thronged with customers, in particular in the height of shopping season. Therefore, it is time-consuming for teenagers when having a long wating for checkout. Furthermore, from an individual perspective, if young people go to shopping malls in their free time in a frequent basis, there will be a major risk that they might suffer from shopping addiction. Consequently, this may lead to a deterioration in their health and social relationships in the long run.
On the other hand, I support with the view that there are some evident advantages of this trend that have to be taken into account. Shopping is a favorite recreational activity for the young, which enables them to refresh their mind and recharge their battery after a long exhausting day. As a result, they will be a great sense of excitement , not only developing social skills but also gaining a practical experience in adult life. Additionally, it is increasingly common that when teenagers go shopping frequently, shopping staff always take their changing needs into consideration. With a through provision of shopping service, as a consequence, young generation will be brought about a deepest care.
In conclusion, it seems to me that when youths are addicted to shopping , this will have both beneficial and detrimental influences on individuals and society as a whole.
