Too much emphasis is placed on testing these days. The need to prepare for tests and examinations is a restriction on teachers and also exerts unnecessary pressure on young learners.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Nowadays, tests and examinations are focused on most education systems to check the studying results of young learners, but emphasizing on testing too much impacts on teachers’ limitation and children’s useless stress. I completely agree with the idea that it is not essential to highlight on testing excessively.
There are several reasons why excessive taking examinations leads to limits on teachers. The key reason is that these tests distract teachers from their primary teaching tasks because they have to use their time to prepare the tests as well as evaluate the results for each test. Besides, the testing results may affect on their performance in work, so this makes they concentrate on the strategies for passing exams rather than explaining knowledge to learners. Furthermore, they do not have enough time to develop the content of the course to suit the particular teaching needs such as researching the new training methods, introducing more relevant topics and expanding useful knowledge.
Another important issue is that a lot of tests put the burden unnecessarily on children. The young who overdo examinations suffer pressure and anxiety when learning should be an exciting and enjoyable experience. This results in being counterproductive in the education and discouraging some children from their studies. Also, the stress of many tests make young learners be just trying to pass the exam instead of trying to broaden their horizon. Therefore, enormous tests are stressful on young generations and cause negatively effects on children’s education.
In conclusion, testing is a feature of most education systems in many countries. But overall, excessive tests and examinations not only bring some teachers’ restriction but also generate children’s unnecessary burden.
