1. Some people think that the main purpose of schools is to teach children to be a good citizen or worker rather than to benefit them as individuals. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Education in school is an essential part in growing up process of children. While educate them to be a good member of society is nessesary, I believe instruction to benefits them as individuals is important as well.
On one hand, being a part of society is something a school always pay attention on during the studying time at schools. Study and work in groups can bring a lot of benefits and amazing results for children. They can exchange their knowledge, support each others during studying time and learn from their friends, who is as same as their age with different experiences, different perspectives. Having ability to be in a community allow children to build strong relationship with people and giving them more opportunities to develop in their whole live. Communicate with society also helps children to be more empathy, they learn the way to understand and support others by putting themselves in others shoes.
On the other hand, school also concentrate on teaching children to help them develop as individuals. It helps children not being affected by others and become independent people in society. They can learn to concentrate on their strengths and build them up rather than allocating the same time for everything. Furthermore, they can easily manage their life when understand themselves and focus on their targets. They will reach their life’s goals faster once they know exactly what they are and invest for them.
The education system is not only focusing on teaching children to be a member of society but also giving them the instruction to be better as individuals, which is a good preparation for children to be a part of an open world.
